A rare albino buffalo nicknamed Donald Trump because of its distinctive blond tuft has been spared from Eid al-Adha sacrifice following a last-minute intervention by authorities in Bangladesh.
The buffalo, which reportedly weighs nearly 700 kilograms, had already been sold for ritual slaughter ahead of the Eid celebration before the government stepped in to halt the sacrifice.
According to officials, Salahuddin Ahmed ordered that the animal be spared and directed that the buyer be refunded.
Authorities said the decision was taken due to growing public attention and security concerns surrounding the animal, which had become an online sensation in recent days.
A Home Ministry official disclosed that the buffalo was later relocated to the Dhaka National Zoo for safety.
“At the last moment, the decision was taken to spare the buffalo from sacrifice due to security concerns and the unusual level of public interest,” the official said.
Videos and photographs of the buffalo had circulated widely across social media platforms, attracting large crowds to the farm where it was kept. Visitors reportedly travelled long distances to catch a glimpse of the animal, known for its blond fringe and calm nature.
The unusual development has continued to generate reactions online, with many social media users celebrating the decision to spare the rare animal.
