The drink was officially launched at the Riyadh Date Festival and developed by Thurath Al Madinah, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
Marketed as the world’s first commercially launched date-based cola, Milaf Cola contains no added refined sugar and positions itself as a more natural alternative to conventional soft drinks. While the “world’s first” designation is part of its branding strategy, the beverage is widely recognized as the first globally promoted cola-style drink made primarily from dates.
Officials say the launch not only showcases innovation in the food and beverage sector but also highlights the Kingdom’s deep-rooted date-farming heritage, a cornerstone of its agricultural identity.
With plans for international distribution, Milaf Cola is expected to expand Saudi Arabia’s footprint in the global specialty beverage market while promoting healthier, locally sourced ingredients.
