The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, has emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring national security. He called on Nigerians to actively provide information that could assist security officials in their operations.
Gen. Musa made this appeal on Saturday in Abuja during his address at the 48th Annual National Conference of the Muslim Elders Association of Nigeria. The conference, themed “Making Living Worthwhile For All: Islamic Solutions to Economic and Security Challenges,” focused on addressing the nation’s pressing issues.
The association, dedicated to promoting peace, fostering brotherhood, and enhancing leadership values, convened to discuss critical economic and security concerns in the country.
Represented by Maj. Gen. Shuab Bashir, the Chief of Defence Staff stressed that collaboration with relevant agencies is crucial in tackling these challenges. “Security is everybody’s business; everyone must be involved. It should not be left to the security agencies alone. People must give us useful information,” he urged.
Echoing the CDS’s sentiments, the representative of the Police Commissioner in the FCT, Mr. Uba Alkali, underscored the need for public cooperation in maintaining security. “Security is everyone’s responsibility. I urge you all to work with the Police to serve humanity,” Alkali added.
