Sen. Sandy Onor Denies Viral “Slap Video,” Says Footage Is AI-Generated Fabrication

Senator Sandy Onor, a close ally of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has dismissed the trending video circulating on social media which appears to show him receiving a dramatic slap during an altercation at the PDP Secretariat. According to the former Cross River governorship candidate, the footage is completely fake and the product of AI manipulation.

In a statement on Friday, Onor clarified that he had already left the PDP Secretariat before the fight broke out, insisting that no physical confrontation involving him ever occurred. He described the video—which social media users joked came with “an eye-turning, earthshaking, phosphene-inducing slap that loosened his trousers”—as nothing more than digital misinformation designed to embarrass him and fuel political tension.

He condemned the spread of such AI-generated videos, warning that the growing misuse of artificial intelligence poses a real threat to public trust and political stability. Onor called on Nigerians to be cautious, verify information before sharing, and resist becoming tools in the hands of mischief makers.

The senator reaffirmed his loyalty to peaceful democratic engagement and urged political actors to avoid tactics that escalate divisions within the party.
