Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on Nigerians to strengthen national unity, promote peaceful coexistence and embrace collective sacrifice as the country continues its journey towards renewal and sustainable development.
In his Eid-el-Kabir 2026 message, the Vice President said the lessons of the Islamic festival remain important to Nigeria’s pursuit of stability, peace and inclusive growth.
He urged citizens to draw inspiration from the values demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim, including faith, sacrifice, obedience and compassion.
According to Shettima, Eid-el-Kabir serves as a period for reflection, extending support to the less privileged and strengthening the bonds of unity among Nigerians.
He stressed that what unites Nigerians is greater than what divides them, noting that national progress depends on tolerance, harmony and peaceful coexistence.
The Vice President further stated that development cannot flourish in an atmosphere of division and mistrust, urging citizens to rise above ethnic, religious and political differences in order to address common national challenges.
Shettima said the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to addressing insecurity, stabilising the economy, creating employment opportunities and improving citizens’ welfare across the country.
He acknowledged that the nation is undergoing a process of transformation and renewal, noting that while ongoing reforms may require patience and sacrifice, they are necessary steps toward building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
The Vice President also appealed for continued support for the administration’s reform agenda, saying shared sacrifice and collective determination are critical in tackling insecurity, poverty and social challenges.
He reassured Nigerians of the Federal Government’s commitment to restoring peace and security nationwide while commending members of the armed forces and security agencies for their dedication and sacrifices.
Expressing optimism about the nation’s future, Shettima said Nigeria remains on a steady path toward peace, recovery and sustainable development.
