Tangale Community Overseas Sends Heartfelt Christmas Greetings Amidst Ongoing Leadership Struggles
In a press statement released on December 24th, 2023, the Tangale Community Overseas (TCO) extended warm Christmas and New Year greetings to all Tangale sons and daughters, emphasizing the importance of unity and support within the community.
Despite the festive season, the statement reflected on the challenges faced by the Tangale people, particularly the absence of a traditional ruler for the third consecutive Christmas. The Tangale people’s chosen leader, Dr. Musa Idris Maiyamba, remains unrecognized by the Governor of Gombe state, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya, leading to a prolonged leadership vacuum.
The press release highlighted the Governor’s decision not to endorse the community’s elected leader and the continued incarceration of seven Tangale youths without trial or bail for three years. These individuals were allegedly involved in protests related to the Mai Tangale saga.
Undeterred by these challenges, the Tangale Community Overseas expressed resilience and urged the Tangale people to remain law-abiding while steadfastly refusing to recognize the appointed leader by Governor Inuwa Yahaya.
Lamela Umaru Lakorok, the General Secretary of TCO, signed the statement, emphasizing the community’s commitment to maintaining peace and solidarity despite the ongoing leadership struggles.
In conclusion, the TCO extended heartfelt wishes for a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year filled with love, joy, and peace to all Tangale people. The statement closed with blessings for Tangale, Gombe State, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
