A tax officer with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Sadiq Zubairu, has allegedly confessed to the killing of his friend, Bello, following a dispute over a ₦3 million payment meant for a job arrangement.
In a statement attributed to the suspect, he claimed the victim transferred the money to him on the understanding that it would secure employment within the agency where he worked.
According to the account, the incident occurred after both men agreed to meet at a filling station in Kaduna. The suspect alleged that he had arranged with accomplices to confront the victim upon arrival.
He further claimed that a struggle broke out during the confrontation, after which the situation escalated and the victim was overpowered. He also alleged that the victim was later placed in a vehicle and moved from the scene.
The suspect reportedly attributed his actions to external influence, saying he “blamed the devil” for the incident.
Authorities have not independently verified the confession, and details surrounding the case, including official charges, remain subject to investigation.
The case has continued to draw public attention due to the alleged involvement of a civil servant and the circumstances surrounding the disputed employment offer scheme.
