Kuku explained that the President’s directive was not to cancel the programme but to ensure that its implementation is properly structured to avoid disruptions to airport operations and inconvenience to passengers.
She noted that the cashless policy is part of broader efforts by FAAN to modernise airport operations, improve transparency in revenue collection, and enhance service delivery across the country’s airports.
According to her, adjustments are currently being made to address operational challenges observed during the early stage of the rollout, particularly the traffic congestion experienced at airport entry gates.
Kuku assured that FAAN remains committed to implementing the initiative in a way that is efficient, seamless, and beneficial to airport users while aligning with the Federal Government’s broader digital and economic reform agenda.
