Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Protecting Investments as Abuja City Walk Project Launches

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting domestic and international investments, declaring that Nigeria is open and ready for business.

The President stated this on Thursday in Abuja during the official launch of the Sales Office and Experience Centre for the Abuja City Walk Development project. He was represented at the event by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

President Tinubu said the Federal Government was continuing to optimise the country’s legal, physical and financial frameworks to protect investments, guarantee returns and eliminate unnecessary administrative bottlenecks.

Describing the Abuja City Walk project as a manifestation of the Renewed Hope Agenda, the President said the development demonstrated the administration’s commitment to delivering on its promises of economic transformation and infrastructure renewal.

“We are not just opening a building. We are unveiling the window to a multi-billion-dollar future. We are presenting a tangible manifestation of our Renewed Hope Agenda, sculpted in concrete, innovation, and unwavering determination,” he said.

President Tinubu described Abuja City Walk as a symbol of what could be achieved when political will combines with private-sector expertise and capital.

He said the designation of the corridor as a Free Trade Zone would help reduce trade barriers and create an enabling environment for regional commerce, medical tourism, premium retail and high-end hospitality.

The President commended the FCT Administration, led by the Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for its role in facilitating the project.

He recalled that the Abuja Technology Village corridor had remained largely dormant for about two decades but was now being transformed into a major construction and investment hub through land administration reforms and the removal of bureaucratic bottlenecks.

President Tinubu said his administration was working to end land speculation and the abandonment of major projects in the Federal Capital Territory.

“We have made it clear that land is an asset for rapid development, not an instrument for developmental retrogression and speculative hoarding,” he said.

He noted that the project reflected the importance of collaboration between government and the private sector in achieving sustainable national development.

The President charged the FCT Administration and other partners to sustain the momentum generated by the launch and ensure that the opening of the Sales Office and Experience Centre translates into accelerated construction work at the project site.

Earlier, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, said the Abuja City Walk project was in line with the Tinubu administration’s objective of attracting foreign direct investment and creating employment opportunities for Nigerians.

He said while government had the responsibility of creating an enabling environment for investment and job creation, citizens also had a role to play by supporting government policies and programmes to ensure continuity and sustainability.

In an overview of the project, the Executive Director of Link Development, Dr Kassim Gidado, described the occasion as the beginning of a bold vision and a major milestone in the realisation of the Abuja City Walk project.

He said the development would feature recreational facilities, educational institutions, residential accommodation, worship centres, shopping malls, a Free Trade Zone and a green corridor, creating what he described as a “city within the city” of Abuja.

Dr Gidado expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the FCT Administration for supporting the realisation of the project, which he said was designed to become one of the world’s leading investment destinations.

The Chief Executive Officer of BroadGate Development Group and Project Manager of Abuja City Walk, Peter John Young, said the project would usher in a new era of global urban design and has the potential to redefine urban development in Africa.

Similarly, Neil Serridge, Deputy Director at Benoy and Master Planner for the project, said the development would feature architectural masterpieces and landmark infrastructure.

The event ended with a guided tour of the Experience Centre by Vice President Kashim Shettima and other dignitaries.
