The President made the remarks in Abuja at the opening of the 9th Nigeria International Energy Summit, which drew heads of delegation, senior government officials, leaders of international energy organisations, chief executives of global and indigenous energy companies, development finance institutions and host community representatives.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu noted that energy remains central to peace, prosperity and global stability, adding that Nigeria is pursuing a balanced energy transition strategy anchored on its vast natural gas reserves as a transition fuel, alongside the expansion of renewable energy capacity.
He emphasised that the Federal Government is committed to creating an enabling environment for investment, innovation and partnerships across the energy value chain, stressing that sustainable energy development is critical to Nigeria’s economic growth, industrialisation and job creation agenda.
The President further called for deeper regional cooperation and stronger public-private partnerships to accelerate Africa’s energy transformation, noting that collective action is essential to achieving universal energy access and meeting global climate goals.
The summit provided a platform for stakeholders to deliberate on policy reforms, financing opportunities and technological innovations aimed at unlocking Nigeria’s energy potential and strengthening energy security across the continent.
