Troops Arrest Notorious Bandit Leader Sanusi Maigilas in Katsina
Troops of the 17 Brigade have apprehended a suspected notorious bandit leader, Sanusi Maigilas, during a military operation in Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Maigilas, who reportedly operated around the Danmusa forest axis, had been on the military’s radar over his alleged involvement in banditry and other criminal activities across parts of Katsina State.
His arrest followed sustained intelligence-led operations by troops aimed at tracking, disrupting and dismantling criminal networks operating within the state.
Security sources said the apprehension is expected to provide valuable intelligence that could assist ongoing military operations and further weaken the operational structures of bandit groups operating across the North-West.
The military has continued to intensify pressure on terrorist and bandit formations across Katsina State and other parts of its Joint Operations Area, deploying intelligence-driven operations to restrict the movement and activities of criminal elements.
The latest development underscores the military’s continued efforts to restore security, protect communities and deny bandit groups the freedom to operate across affected areas of the North-West.
