Troops of the 8 Division Strike Force operating under Sector 2 of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have dealt a significant blow to bandit networks in Katsina State after a series of offensive operations led to the neutralisation of several notorious criminal kingpins and the recovery of weapons and other operational items.

The successful operation was carried out on Monday, June 22, as part of the military’s ongoing Operation CLEAN SWEEP, a campaign designed to dismantle terrorist and bandit strongholds across the North-West and restore security to affected communities.
Acting on intelligence reports, the troops launched coordinated assaults on identified hideouts located within the Ginchawa, Fafu and Matazu forests. The operation triggered a fierce exchange of gunfire, during which the troops overwhelmed the terrorists with superior firepower and tactical manoeuvres, forcing them to flee their camps.
A subsequent search of the affected locations led to the recovery of two PKT machine guns, one AK-47 rifle with magazines, three motorcycles, two mobile phones, communication radios, large quantities of assorted ammunition, rustled livestock and other items believed to be linked to the criminal network.
Military authorities confirmed that no casualties or equipment losses were recorded among the troops during the operation.
Following the successful raids, troops intensified clearance and pursuit operations across adjoining forests to prevent the regrouping of fleeing terrorists and deny them freedom of movement.
According to military sources, the latest success reflects the sustained momentum of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in degrading terrorist and bandit capabilities across the North-West.
“The morale and fighting efficiency of the troops remain high as operations continue to restore peace, security and stability across the region,” a military source said.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements while working to safeguard communities and critical assets across the North-West.
