Troops Rescue 12 Civilians in Separate Operations Against Terrorists in Zamfara

Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 12 civilians during separate operations against terrorists in Kaura Namoda and Tsafe Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.

The operations, conducted on September 7, 2026, followed swift responses by troops to distress calls and intelligence on terrorist activities in the areas.

In the first operation at Tsohon Tasha, Kaura Namoda LGA, troops engaged terrorists who had infiltrated a residence. The intense response forced the attackers to abandon six abducted civilians before fleeing across a nearby river. The rescued victims were evacuated and later reunited with their families.

In a separate operation along the Main Supply Route in Tsafe LGA, troops monitoring activities around Kwanoni Village observed terrorists attempting to intercept a Sharon vehicle. The troops immediately mobilised and engaged the attackers, forcing them to abandon the operation and retreat into the surrounding bush. Six civilians were subsequently rescued.

The Joint Task Force said the successful operations further demonstrate the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protecting lives and property, disrupting terrorist activities and denying armed groups freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.

The Theatre urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist elements and restore lasting peace across the region.
