The 44-year-old reportedly stood up during the proceedings and shouted that Americans should not send their sons and daughters to war, while criticizing U.S. involvement in the conflict and referencing Israel during his outburst.

Police reports indicate that McGinnis physically resisted officers as they attempted to escort him from the chamber. During the removal, his arm was reportedly injured.

Officers from the United States Capitol Police took him into custody following the incident.

Authorities say he now faces several charges, including assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. Court proceedings related to the case are expected to take place in the coming weeks.

The disruption briefly interrupted the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee hearing before order was restored and the session continued.
