In a press statement released on Sunday, Otoro expressed deep appreciation to members for their confidence, noting that his three-month tenure as Acting President offered a firm foundation to assume the role in full capacity.

“Having served as Acting President for the past three months, I am honoured to formally assume this position,” Otoro said. “I extend heartfelt appreciation to the immediate past executive led by Mrs. Phil Okoroafor for their tireless dedication, as well as the Electoral Committee (ELECO) chaired by Mr. Austin Okeze—who also serves as the current acting National President—for delivering a smooth, transparent, and credible election process. INEC could learn a thing or two from their professionalism.”

Otoro called on all members to unite and work collaboratively with the new executive team, stressing that the strength of the association lies in its unity and shared purpose.

“We are stronger together, and I ask every member to join hands with us as we strive to make this chapter a beacon of excellence,” he appealed.

Outlining his administration’s focus, Otoro announced a commitment to expanding the association’s membership base, enhancing welfare support, and encouraging professional development. Planned initiatives include:

  • Career support programmes for members

  • Regular networking and social events

  • Welfare interventions for members facing health or personal challenges

  • Enhanced digital communication through online platforms

  • Continuation of all existing member subsidies

“My leadership philosophy is rooted in empowering others to achieve more,” he affirmed. “With integrity, creativity, and joy, I will lead from the front and help make our association a force to be reckoned with.”

Otoro concluded with a rallying call for support and cooperation, assuring members that the new executive is ready to deliver a dynamic and inclusive alumni experience.
