University of Abuja Elects First Female SUG President
A 300-level student of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Eyamu Oghenenyerovwo Peculiar, has made history as the first female President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) at the University of Abuja.
Peculiar emerged victorious in the 2025/2026 SUG election, which was conducted through a digital voting platform. She contested the election with the campaign slogan, “Everything Peculiar, Nothing Is Ordinary.”
Reacting to her victory, the newly elected SUG President expressed appreciation to students for their confidence and support, describing her emergence as a victory for every young woman and a testament to leadership founded on competence, character and service rather than gender.
She also pledged to justify the confidence reposed in her by working to advance the interests and welfare of students throughout her tenure.
