The institution’s management also advised students and staff to remain indoors and stay vigilant as security concerns persist in the area.

Eyewitnesses reported that gunmen riding on motorcycles stormed the community around 7:30 p.m., opening fire indiscriminately while residents went about their normal activities. The attack left several people dead and many others injured, triggering panic across the area.

In the aftermath, angry youths reportedly blocked roads and attacked motorcycle riders and passengers, further escalating tensions.

In a statement, the Deputy Registrar, Information and Public Relations, Emmanuel Madugu, said the decision to suspend examinations was taken due to the security situation affecting areas where many students and staff reside.

“In view of the fatal attacks by unknown gunmen on residents of Anguwan Rukuba… and the consequential tensions it has generated, the Vice Chancellor has directed that all examinations scheduled for Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st March 2026 are postponed,” the statement read.

The university urged members of its community to exercise caution, avoid early morning movements, and report any suspicious activity to the institution’s security division.

Management added that it is working closely with security agencies and monitoring developments to ensure the safety of students and staff, noting that new dates for the postponed examinations will be communicated in due course.
