In a resounding declaration of commitment, Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering dedication to the agricultural sector.

Addressing a gathering in Maiduguri during the flag-off ceremony of the Renewed Hope Initiative Women Agricultural Support Programme (RHI-WASP), Governor Zulum emphasised the pivotal role of agriculture in the state’s development agenda.

“As you are aware, the Borno State Government has given top priority to the development of Agriculture in the state,”

Governor Zulum asserted, highlighting the concerted efforts aimed at bolstering agricultural activities.

The governor outlined concrete steps taken by his administration, including the procurement of essential agricultural machinery and inputs such as tractors, chemicals, and fertilizers, signaling a proactive approach towards agricultural enhancement.

Governor Zulum extended a reassuring hand to farmers, pledging continuous support to bolster their productivity.

“The government is poised to ensure that our farmers are assisted in every way to increase their agricultural productivity,” he affirmed, underlining the government’s unwavering commitment to agricultural advancement.

The event, graced by dignitaries including the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, witnessed the launch of RHI-WASP, a laudable initiative aimed at empowering women engaged in agricultural activities.

Senator Tinubu’s advocacy for women’s empowerment through agriculture resonated.

She expressed her commitment to supporting twenty women farmers per state in the Northeast zone with a significant financial boost of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) each.

The program’s impact reverberated as over 220 women farmers and individuals with disabilities benefited, with 120 women farmers and 100 people with disabilities from Borno State receiving substantial financial assistance.

Also speaking the wife of Borno State Governor, Dr. Falmata Babagana Umara Zulum, expressed gratitude to Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her unwavering support, underscoring the transformative potential of such initiatives in fostering agricultural prosperity in the region.

The event witnessed a convergence of key stakeholders, including Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur, representatives of other state governments, and prominent political figures, reflecting a collective resolve towards advancing agricultural development in Borno State.

As Borno State charts a course towards agricultural transformation, Governor Zulum’s steadfast commitment and collaborative efforts with stakeholders signify a beacon of hope, heralding a new era of agricultural resurgence and socio-economic prosperity in the region.
