2023 OurNigeria Awards: Dr Marafa to receive Excellence Award in Traditional Medicine
OurNigeria News Magazine in its yearly awards will honor a renowned traditional medicine practitioner, Dr Abubakar Marafa (Iyan Deba) with the ‘General Excellence Award’ in Traditional Medicine.
Born on 26th October 1983 in Kurjale town, Gombe state, Dr. Marafa’s journey to this accolade is a testament to his dedication.
He embarked on his path to knowledge at Kurjale Primary School and later pursued his secondary education at Government Science Gombe.
Dr Marafa further honed his expertise through scholarships, earning qualifications in Islamic studies, Arabic language, and traditional medicine.
His commitment to the field led to the establishment of Manash Global Investment Ltd. Dr Marafa’s relentless pursuit of excellence also saw him attend MIJ College of Traditional Medicine and Acupuncture in Damaturu, Yobe State in 2017.
In recognition of his exceptional contributions to traditional medicine, Dr Marafa was turbaned as Iyan Deba by the late Emir of Deba, Col Abubakar Waziri Mahadi, in 2017.
He was appointed as Director of Research by the Vice President of the National Association of Nigerian Traditional Medicine Practitioners, Northeast zone, Dr Mustapha Ibrahim Al-Amin, for his significant role in advancing traditional medicine deployment.
Dr Abubakar Marafa’s groundbreaking efforts have propelled traditional medicine research in the region and across the nation.
Currently, he is spearheading the establishment of a state-of-the-art Traditional Medicine Research Centre in Gombe state, reaffirming his commitment to modernizing the field.
The General Excellence Award in Traditional Medicine bestowed upon Dr Abubakar Marafa is a well-deserved recognition of his unwavering dedication and remarkable contributions to traditional medicine in Nigeria.
