Former Minister of Aviation and founder of the Athena Centre, Osita Chidoka, has urged candidates and concerned Nigerians to remain calm amid widespread reactions to the release of the 2025 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) results. In a public statement on Monday, Chidoka affirmed that a transparent and rigorous review process is currently underway at JAMB, and that evidence—not emotion—should guide the national conversation.

“The Athena Centre has received an overwhelming number of calls asking us to weigh in on the JAMB results. While we appreciate the public’s trust in our voice, we believe that credible analysis must be grounded in verified information,” Chidoka said.

Following an invitation from JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Chidoka joined a delegation of stakeholders—including Commissioners for Education, Vice Chancellors, representatives from the Parents Teachers Association, the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, and Chief External Examiners—at JAMB Headquarters for a review of the examination process.

“What I witnessed was encouraging,” Chidoka said. “JAMB has demonstrated a deep commitment to transparency and accountability. The open review process, including the physical re-marking of scripts, reflects an admirable pursuit of truth over convenience.”

Chidoka revealed that through the Arthur Nwankwo Institute, the Athena Centre has formally filed a Freedom of Information request to review a decade’s worth of JAMB results for comparative analysis.

He called on students to be patient as the review continues, and commended JAMB’s effort to correct technical irregularities reported in some centres in Lagos and the South East.

“I am impressed by the process so far. Affected candidates should remain calm and await JAMB’s formal communication,” he stated.

Chidoka also praised education advocate and Educare CEO Alex Onyia for his consistent defense of students’ rights and integrity in the education sector.

He concluded with a call for national reform: “Let us build a nation where truth, not speculation, shapes our response to failure—where integrity is the foundation of reform.”
