35 Artillery Brigade Conducts Drug Abuse Sensitisation Lecture for Troops

Brigadier General Mohammed Aminu, Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, organised a one-day sensitisation and enlightenment lecture on drug abuse at the 35 Vulcans Officers’ Mess, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The initiative aimed to educate troops, barrack youths, and women on the implications of drug abuse and related matters.

During the lecture, Commander Mohammed Aminu was decorated as an ambassador of the War Against Drugs Abuse by the Commander of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Ogun State Command.

The informative session was facilitated by Narcotics Ibiba Jane Odili, the Commander of NDLEA Ogun State Command, who is recognised as a senior drug enforcement expert, author, and humanitarian agent.

The lecture focused on various aspects of drug abuse, including the negative impact of drugs, symptoms of abuse, addiction, and effects on the brain and organs. Colonel Legborsi Nule, representing the commander at the event, stressed the importance of military personnel maintaining a sound mindset by avoiding the abuse of illicit drugs, particularly during military operations. He also urged barrack youths to refrain from habits detrimental to their mental and physical well-being.

The event featured the presentation of plaques, an interactive session, and concluded with group photographs, providing a comprehensive approach to raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse among the military community.
