We never asked for probe of Executive Director —NHL

Navy Holdings Limited (NHL) has denied a publication making it around the various online media platforms, asking investigative bodies such as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practises and Other Related Offences Commission, as well as high-ranking military officials, to investigate Commodore Gabriel Sunday Martins Aligwe, Executive Director of Operations.

The Group Public Relations Officer, Commander Blessed Nuhu, said the claims, which revolve around alleged infractions of public regulations and misuse of office, are malicious and misleading.

The corporation, which has been under new administration for almost two months clarified that no contracts have been awarded under the restructured leadership instead, management is currently renegotiating contracts that have come to an end.

According to the statement, this has resulted in a temporary halt of activities for developers, whose contracts have expired, awaiting the conclusion of these renegotiations.

“It is pertinent to state that NHL is a registered company with the Corporate Affairs Commission. The operations of the NHL is fully guided by the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020 and other regulatory provisions. The Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer is responsible to a Board of Directors for the implementation of policies and decisions of the Board. In that case, no Director or any individual has the authority over the award of contracts without the approval of the Board,” the statement partly read.

The statement asked the public to disregard the internet posting as unfounded and deceptive.
