Military Operation Rescues 9 Kidnap Hostages and Neutralises 10 Terrorists in Katsina and Zamfara States

In a recent dry season clearance operation led by Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, troops of the Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI (OPHD) have achieved significant success. The operation resulted in the neutralisation of 10 terrorists, the rescue of 9 kidnap victims, and the recovery of arms, ammunition, motorcycles, and communication gadgets.

On January 3, 2024, the combined troops of OPHD conducted an offensive operation in identified terrorist enclaves in Batsari and Safana Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Katsina State. During this operation, 10 terrorists were neutralised, and various weapons, including an AK-47 Rifle, ammunition, 7 Dane guns, 3 locally fabricated guns, communication gadgets, mobile phones, and military uniforms, were recovered.

Additionally, 4 motorcycles were retrieved and destroyed in situ.

Simultaneously, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI in Zamfara State conducted a search and rescue operation at Dansadau and Dandalla villages in Maru LGA. The operation resulted in the rescue of 9 victims, including 5 women and 4 babies. The victims, abandoned by the fleeing terrorists after a gun duel with the troops, were swiftly reunited with their families in Magami.

Major General Godwin Mutkut, the Commander Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI, commended the troops for their efforts and urged them to maintain the operational tempo.
