Bombshell in Court: Former SGF Blows Whistle on Alleged $6.2M Scam Involving Ex-CBN Governor

In a courtroom drama that could rival any blockbuster thriller, the ongoing fraud trial of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, took a startling turn as the former Secretary of the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, dropped a bombshell revelation on Tuesday.

Mustapha, appearing as the fourth prosecution witness, stunned the audience by alleging that the $6.2 million at the center of the case was approved by none other than former President Muhammadu Buhari himself.

As the proceedings unfolded in the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, Mustapha declared that documents pertaining to the hefty sum were nothing short of counterfeit.

The alleged plot thickens as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) contends that Emefiele, in cahoots with a fugitive named Odoh Ocheme, orchestrated the scheme, claiming the funds were requested by the SGF via a suspicious letter dated January 26, 2023, with a perplexing reference number: SGF.43/L.01/.

Further fueling the intrigue, the anti-graft agency has accused Emefiele of fabricating a document titled “RE: PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE ON FOREIGN ELECTION OBSERVER MISSIONS,” dated January 26, 2023, with yet another enigmatic reference number: SGF.43/L.01/201.

With tensions running high and the spotlight firmly fixed on the courtroom, the nation awaits with bated breath as the trial unfolds, promising to expose the intricate web of deception allegedly woven at the highest echelons of power.

As the saga continues to unfold, one thing remains certain: the echoes of this alleged financial scandal will reverberate for years to come, leaving a lasting imprint on Nigeria’s political and financial landscape.
