Nigerian Air Force Launches Investigation into Zamfara Airstrikes

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has deployed a fact-finding team to Zamfara State to investigate reports of civilian casualties resulting from recent airstrikes in the region. The team, led by Air Vice Marshal Edward K Gabkwet, aims to provide a detailed report on the incident and recommend further action.

The decision to launch an investigation was made by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, who expressed concern over the reported civilian casualties. The NAF has reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest level of professionalism and transparency in its operations, in line with global standards.

The fact-finding team will engage with state and local government officials, as well as other stakeholders, to conduct a thorough assessment of the situation. The NAF has assured that it values the life and well-being of every Nigerian and is dedicated to defeating threats to the nation’s peace, security, and prosperity.

In a statement, the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Olusola F Akinboyewa, emphasized the importance of maintaining public trust and refining operational procedures to ensure mission accomplishment while protecting civilians and civilian infrastructure.

The investigation comes amidst recent NAF airstrikes in Zamfara, which reportedly neutralized several bandits, including key associates of notorious leaders Dan-Isuhu and Dogo Sule.
