The Dialogue, themed “Nigeria’s Fourth Republic: What Is Working and What Is Not,” brought together policymakers, scholars, civic leaders and other stakeholders to critically examine Nigeria’s democratic journey since the advent of the Fourth Republic in 1999. Participants reflected on governance outcomes, institutional performance, key achievements and persistent challenges, while exploring pathways for strengthening the nation’s democracy.

Professor Yilwatda’s attendance reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to open and constructive national conversations on democracy, governance and institutional reform. As chairman of the ruling party, his presence highlighted the party’s resolve to promote inclusive engagement, thoughtful leadership and the consolidation of democratic values, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration.

Organised annually by Daily Trust, the Dialogue has remained a respected forum for policy-focused discussions and critical reflections on Nigeria’s political and socio-economic development.
