First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Urges Women to Mentor Young Girls, Promote Values

She made the appeal on March 6, 2026, during an interfaith Iftar and Lent breaking-of-fast event held in Abuja, which brought together Muslim and Christian women in a show of unity and shared commitment to nation-building.

Speaking at the gathering, the First Lady urged women to support young girls through mentorship and educational opportunities, especially those from indigent families.

“I challenge you to have a mentee with you. Pour into the life of a young girl from an indigent background. Help them with scholarship, teach them good virtue, teach them how to be good women,” she said.

Mrs. Tinubu emphasised that mentoring should go beyond academics, encouraging women to guide young girls on character, discipline, and life values that will shape their future.

She also highlighted the importance of modest dressing and self-respect, noting that true beauty comes from within.

“Teach them how to dress well. Teach them how to cover up because being naked is not beauty. Beauty comes from within. God will also help our men and crucify their eyes,” she added jokingly.

The First Lady noted that raising responsible and confident young women requires collective effort, urging women to take deliberate steps to nurture the next generation with strong moral and cultural foundations.
