Andy Robertson to Leave Liverpool After Nine-Year Trophy-Laden Career

Andy Robertson will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the season, bringing an end to a remarkable nine-year spell at Anfield.

The 32-year-old Scotland captain has made 373 appearances for the club, playing a pivotal role in one of the most successful eras in Liverpool’s modern history under former manager Jürgen Klopp.

During his time with the Reds, Robertson helped secure two Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League trophy, alongside other major honours including the FA Cup, two League Cups, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.

However, his influence has waned this season following the arrival of Milos Kerkez, with Robertson dropping down the pecking order. His contract, which expires at the end of the current campaign, will not be renewed.

His departure comes shortly after teammate Mohamed Salah also confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the season, marking the end of an era for Liverpool.

Reflecting on his time at the club, Robertson said he leaves with pride and gratitude.

“I’ll always look back on amazing memories at this football club. I’ve put my heart and soul into it for nine years and I’ve not got many regrets,” he said.

Signed from Hull City in 2017 for £8 million, Robertson quickly established himself as a fan favourite and became one of the most productive defenders in Premier League history, ranking just behind former teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold for most assists by a defender.

Liverpool’s current campaign has been challenging, with disappointing results both domestically and in Europe, including a heavy FA Cup defeat to Manchester City and a Champions League quarter-final setback against Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite the setbacks, Robertson remains focused on finishing strongly.

“I’m still fully focused on trying to end this season as positively as possible, to help the team and give the fans a few more good moments,” he added.

His departure signals the close of a defining chapter in Liverpool’s recent history, as the club prepares for a new phase of transition.
