Tinubu Emerges APC Presidential Candidate, Secures Over 10.9 Million Votes

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after securing a total of 10,999,162 votes in the party’s nationwide presidential primary election.

The President received his certificate of return and the party’s symbolic flag from APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, during an event held at the International Conference Centre, where party leaders, governors, lawmakers, ministers and other stakeholders gathered.

Accepting the nomination, Tinubu expressed gratitude to party members and pledged to intensify efforts toward national development if re-elected.

“In accepting this nomination, I renew my commitment to serve our nation with even greater determination,” the President said.

“With another four years of disciplined focus and national cooperation, we will firmly place Nigeria on an irreversible path of economic expansion, industrialisation, energy security, infrastructure development, food sufficiency and democratic consolidation.”

Chairman of the APC Presidential Election Committee, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, announced that the primary election was conducted across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, covering 774 local government areas and 8,809 wards.

According to him, 12,643,316 party members were registered, while 11,069,746 members were accredited and 11,015,665 votes were cast during the exercise.

He stated that the process complied with the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), electoral laws and the APC constitution.

Tinubu’s closest challenger, Stanley Osifo, secured 16,503 votes.

The President thanked governors, members of the National Assembly, party leaders and APC supporters for giving him another opportunity to fly the party’s flag in the upcoming election.

Highlighting achievements of his administration over the last three years, Tinubu pointed to economic reforms, education funding, power sector interventions and infrastructure development.

He said the Nigerian Education Loan Fund had disbursed over N282 billion to more than 1.5 million beneficiaries, while efforts to improve electricity supply had led to the deployment of 2.5 million meters and reforms aimed at making the power sector more attractive for investment.

The President also said his administration had undertaken major infrastructure projects, including road networks, airport upgrades and reforms in the oil and gas sector.

Speaking on security, Tinubu acknowledged the challenges facing parts of the country and assured Nigerians of his administration’s continued commitment to restoring peace.

“I assure you that I take seriously the responsibility to safeguard the lives and property of every Nigerian,” he said.

“We will not rest until we restore peace and stability to every corner of our country.”

He also extended an appeal for political unity and dialogue, stating that democracy thrives on diversity of ideas and collective commitment to nation-building.
