Shettima Visits Maiduguri, Assures Military of Sustained Support After Deadly Attack

Vice President Kashim Shettima has paid an unscheduled visit to Maiduguri to commiserate with the Nigerian Army and the Borno State government following a recent terrorist attack that claimed the lives of Brigadier General Oseni Braimah and several officers and soldiers.

The Vice President, who visited on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressed deep condolences over the loss, describing the fallen soldiers as heroes who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.

Speaking during the visit, Shettima acknowledged the sacrifices of the Armed Forces, noting that their commitment to protecting the nation comes at great personal cost.

“These men wore the uniform for all of us. They stood to protect our communities, our families, and the future of our children. Their courage reminds us that peace and security often come at a very heavy cost,” he said.

He reassured the military of the Federal Government’s continued operational and logistical support, emphasizing that efforts to combat insecurity across the country would be intensified.

The Vice President further stated that under the leadership of President Tinubu, criminal elements would have no hiding place, reaffirming the administration’s resolve to restore lasting peace and security.

The visit underscores the government’s solidarity with the Armed Forces and its commitment to supporting troops engaged in ongoing counter-insurgency operations.
