The Yarang Llamisi Foundation (YLF) has trained and graduated 93 women in vocational, entrepreneurial, and literacy skills as part of their efforts to promote women’s empowerment and economic self-reliance in Gombe State.

The graduation ceremony was held at Zumbuk Primary School in the Yamaltu/Deba local government area, attracting community leaders, civil society organisations, facilitators, family members, and supporters of the foundation.

The foundation said the training programme was offered free of charge as part of its commitment to giving back to the community and providing women with practical skills for sustainable livelihoods.

In a goodwill message, the founder and chief executive officer of the foundation, Sarah Haruna Musa Moda, described the graduation as a milestone in the organisation’s efforts to improve the lives of women and vulnerable groups through education and skill acquisition.

Ms Moda explained that the program was designed to equip the beneficiaries with practical, income-generating skills that would enable them to become self-reliant and contribute positively to their families and communities.

“This occasion represents a remarkable milestone in vocational, entrepreneurial and literacy achievement. It reflects the resilience, dedication, and vision that define the Yarang Llamisi Foundation community,” she said.

She commended the trainers, volunteers, and organisers for their dedication to the success of the programme, and encouraged the graduates to make productive use of the knowledge and skills they had acquired during the training.

Speaking during the event, the principal of the programme, Mary Mele, said the initiative reflected the foundation’s commitment to women’s education, economic empowerment and social development in Gombe State.

According to her, the beneficiaries received training in different vocational fields alongside literacy and entrepreneurial education aimed at strengthening their ability to establish and manage small businesses successfully.

Ms Mele urged the graduates to remain focused and use the skills acquired to improve their standard of living and contribute to the development of their communities.

Also speaking, the chairman of the Gombe State Civil Society Network, Ambassador Ibrahim Yusuf, commended the foundation for investing in women’s empowerment and community development.

Mr Yusuf described the programme as timely and impactful, noting that empowering women through vocational and entrepreneurial training would substantially contribute to poverty reduction and economic growth in the state.

The event featured the presentation of certificates to the beneficiaries amid celebrations and goodwill messages from guests and community members.

The Yarang Llamisi Foundation has continued to implement programs focused on literacy, vocational training, and entrepreneurial development as part of broader efforts to promote self-reliance among women and youths in Gombe State.
