Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court on Wednesday sentenced former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, to 75 years’ imprisonment over corruption linked to the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.
The court convicted Mamman on a 12-count charge bordering on corruption and financial misconduct connected to the power projects.
Justice Omotosho ruled that the prison terms would run consecutively, bringing the total sentence to 75 years.
The judge further ordered that the sentence would commence from the day the former minister is arrested and directed all security agencies to apprehend him wherever he is found.
The court also ordered the forfeiture of all monies and properties recovered from Mamman to the Federal Government.
In addition, the judge directed the former minister to refund the outstanding balance from the alleged N22 billion linked to the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.
Further details on the judgment are expected later.
