Team Nigeria Wins Gold in Women’s 4x400m Relay at African Athletics Championships
Team Nigeria secured another gold medal on the final day of the 24th Senior African Athletics Championships in Accra after a dominant performance in the women’s 4×400 metres relay event.
The Nigerian quartet of Esther Okon, Toheebat Jimoh, Jecinter Lawrence and Patient Okon-George stormed to victory with a time of 3:29.25.
The Nigerian team controlled the race from start to finish and crossed the finish line nearly 30 metres ahead of competitors from Ethiopia and Kenya.
The victory added to Nigeria’s medal haul at the championships, with Team Nigeria concluding the competition with four gold medals and eight additional podium finishes.
The strong performance further highlighted Nigeria’s growing strength in track and field events on the continental stage, especially in relay competitions where the country has continued to maintain a proud tradition of success.
