FG Declares May 27, 28 Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Adha Celebration
The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays to mark the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha across the country.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, according to a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
The declaration, according to the government, reflects its respect for the faith and spiritual heritage of millions of Nigerian Muslims joining the global Islamic community in observing the sacred festival.
The Minister extended the Federal Government’s felicitations to Muslim faithful in Nigeria and in the diaspora, describing Eid-ul-Adha as a period of profound spiritual significance anchored on the values of sacrifice, obedience to God and compassion towards others.
He urged Nigerians to use the occasion for prayers and reflection, while seeking divine guidance for the country as it continues efforts toward achieving peace, security and national prosperity.
The government also called on citizens to embrace the values of brotherhood, unity and peaceful coexistence, noting that the celebration presents an opportunity to strengthen national harmony and shared humanity.
The Federal Government wished Muslims across the country a peaceful, joyful and blessed Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
