Ogun Police Arrest Sariki Fulani, Son Over Alleged Kidnapping Activities in Ijebu Communities

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested the Sariki Fulani of Ijebu Ode, Abdullai Muhammadu, and his eldest son in connection with ongoing investigations into a series of alleged kidnapping incidents in parts of the Ijebu area.

Muhammadu, 67, who serves as a leader of the Fulani community in the area, was taken into custody alongside his son as police intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating within the state.

According to reports, both suspects denied involvement in the alleged kidnappings. However, investigators reportedly recovered a bag believed to have been used for the delivery of ransom payments from the kitchen of the community leader’s residence.

During the course of the investigation, Muhammadu reportedly acknowledged that he was aware that one of his sons, Bala Muhammadu, had previously been involved in kidnapping activities.

He was quoted as saying that he believed his son had abandoned the criminal activity and changed his ways.

Police authorities have not announced any formal conviction, and investigations into the matter are ongoing.

The Ogun State Police Command said efforts are continuing to uncover the full extent of the alleged kidnapping network and identify all individuals connected to the criminal activities.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information that could assist security agencies in combating kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
