15 Worshippers Regain Freedom After Over 60 Days in Captivity in Ekiti

Fifteen worshippers abducted during a night vigil at a church in Eda Oniyo, Ilejemeje Local Government Area of Ekiti State, have regained their freedom after spending more than 60 days in captivity.

The victims were kidnapped on April 28, 2026, when armed men attacked the church during the vigil.

They were reportedly released in the early hours of Saturday and were later taken to the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.

Authorities are yet to provide details surrounding their release or the circumstances leading to the end of their captivity. Investigations into the incident are expected to continue.
