A remarkable story of determination and resilience has emerged from India, where V. Sripathy has become the first Civil Judge from Tamil Nadu’s Malayali tribal community after overcoming significant personal and social challenges.

Sripathy, who grew up in a remote tribal village in Tamil Nadu, chose to study law with the goal of helping members of her community better understand and defend their legal rights.

Despite marriage and pregnancy, she remained committed to her ambition of joining the judiciary, continuing her preparations for the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Civil Judge examination.

In an extraordinary display of determination, Sripathy reportedly travelled more than 200 kilometres to sit for the examination just 48 hours after giving birth.

Her perseverance paid off as she successfully passed the examination at the age of 27, making history as the first Civil Judge from Tamil Nadu’s Malayali tribal community.

Her achievement has been widely celebrated as an inspiring example of resilience, hard work and dedication, with many describing her journey as proof that determination and strong family support can help overcome even the most difficult obstacles.
