Nearly Half of Gen Z Diagnosed With Mental Health Condition, Survey Finds

A new 2025 survey has revealed that nearly half of Generation Z adults have been diagnosed with a mental health condition, underscoring growing concerns about the emotional well-being of young people.

According to the report by Harmony Healthcare IT, anxiety is the most commonly diagnosed mental health condition among Gen Z, followed by depression and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The survey suggests that financial pressures, the influence of social media and uncertainty about the future are among the major factors contributing to the rise in mental health challenges facing the generation. It also found that many young adults are still searching for answers about symptoms they experience but have not yet fully understood or diagnosed.

Despite the findings, the report highlights a positive trend, showing that more members of Generation Z are seeking professional mental health support than any previous generation. Researchers say the willingness to access therapy reflects a growing openness to discussing mental health and seeking help rather than suffering in silence.

Mental health experts say the findings reinforce the need for greater awareness, early intervention and improved access to affordable mental health services, while encouraging people experiencing emotional or psychological challenges to seek professional support.

The survey concludes that although mental health conditions remain widespread among Gen Z, increased awareness and a growing acceptance of therapy offer hope for improved outcomes and long-term well-being.
