The Nigeria Police Force has congratulated Corporal Ezekiel Nathaniel on his historic gold medal victory in the men’s 400 metres hurdles at the ongoing Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Nathaniel delivered an outstanding performance in the final on Friday night, crossing the finish line in 48.47 seconds to claim the Commonwealth title and bring glory to Nigeria and the Nigeria Police Force.
His achievement marks a remarkable improvement from his sixth-place finish at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, highlighting his resilience, discipline, determination and commitment to excellence.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended Corporal Nathaniel for flying both the Nigerian and Police flags high on the international stage. He described the victory as an inspiring example of excellence for police personnel across the country.
The Police Force said Nathaniel’s success also reflects the impact of structured institutional support and aligns with the IGP’s Strategic Agenda on Police Sports Development, Personnel Welfare and Capacity Building.
Under the current leadership, the Force continues to promote sports as an important component of tactical fitness, personnel development, institutional morale and positive youth engagement. It also remains committed to identifying, nurturing and supporting sporting talents among its personnel.
