NESG Convenes Industrialisation Forum to Drive Nigeria’s Competitiveness, Investment

The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) has convened the Nigerian Industrialisation and Competitiveness Forum, bringing together government officials, private-sector leaders, development partners, industry experts and other stakeholders to develop an execution-focused strategy for accelerating Nigeria’s industrial growth.

The two-day forum, held from 18 to 19 August 2026 at Summit House, Lagos, focused on moving Nigeria’s industrialisation agenda beyond policy formulation to coordinated implementation, increased productivity, stronger competitiveness and measurable economic outcomes.

The forum was convened against the backdrop of persistent challenges affecting Nigeria’s industrial sector, including high production costs, unreliable electricity, infrastructure deficits, limited access to long-term financing, skills shortages, low technology adoption and fragmented policy implementation.

Participants stressed the need for stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors to create an enabling environment capable of attracting investment, supporting businesses, increasing value addition and generating sustainable employment.

Discussions also highlighted the importance of strengthening linkages across critical sectors of the economy, including agriculture and agro-processing, mining and steel, oil and gas, manufacturing, energy, logistics and the blue economy.

Stakeholders noted that coordinated investment in infrastructure, technology, human capital, financing and market access would be essential to increasing domestic production and value addition while enabling Nigerian businesses to compete more effectively in regional and international markets.

The forum ultimately underscored the need for clear priorities, stronger institutional coordination and effective implementation if Nigeria is to build a more productive, competitive and investment-friendly industrial economy.

The NESG said sustained collaboration among government, businesses and development partners remains critical to transforming Nigeria’s industrial potential into higher productivity, stronger local industries, more investment and quality jobs for Nigerians.
