The pupils and teachers abducted in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom, bringing relief to their families and the wider community.
The development was confirmed on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Announcing the development in a post shared on his verified Facebook page, Onanuga stated that the victims had been successfully rescued.
“Finally, all the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo, have been rescued by our security agencies,” he wrote.

While the government confirmed the release of the victims, details surrounding the operation were yet to be disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
It remains unclear whether any ransom was paid or if the victims were freed through a security operation.
Security agencies have also not released further information regarding the circumstances surrounding their rescue or whether any arrests were made in connection with the abduction.
The successful release of the victims has been welcomed by residents, who expressed hope that those responsible for the incident would be apprehended and brought to justice.
