AFCON: Super Eagles remain the team to beat – Football enthusiasts

Some Football enthusiasts in Bauchi have expressed confidence that the super eagles would beat their opponents at the semi finals and as well triumph to finals at the ongoing 2023 AFCON in Cote’ d’ivoire.

Our reports that Super Eagles and Bafana Bafana will extend their growing rivalry with the stakes very high as both teams eye a place in the final of the 2023 AFCON.

Super Eagles crashed out the Antelope of Angola on Friday February 2, 2024, with Ademola Lookman’s first-half goal to qualify for semi-final at the ongoing AFCON 2023 in Cote d’Ivoire.

Some of the football enthusiasts that spoke separately to our correspondent in Bauchi, were so optimistic that super eagles would make it to finals .

Abubakar Waziri, Sports commentator in Bauchi, said, Super Eagle remains the only team to beat in the ongoing 2023 afcon
“Despite not scoring many goals the team conceded a lone goal, I have confidence that they would be there.

“Even on paper based on the current FIFA Ranking Nigeria is 3rd in Africa and 36 in the world the first and second are out of the competition,” he stressed.

Jennifer Emmanuel, Sport Writer in Bauchi expressed her satisfaction with the super eagles outing at the ongoing 2023 Afcon.

“I have already told some of our colleagues that Nigeria would play finals going by what I see in most of the matches in Cote D’ivoire.

“Let just continue praying for the eagles to trash Bafana Bafana at the semi finals on Wednesday and I am very sure they would make us proud,” She said

On his part, Nasiru Ibrahim, another enthusiast, said the last match with Angola was extremely beautiful.

“Nigeria performed admirably and deserved to win.adding that the coach once again shows his tactical prowess as the first country to make it through to the semifinals,” he said.

Also, Former SWAN National Deputy President Umar Saidu appreciate God for giving the super eagles all the opportunities and the energy

“We thank Almighty God that the better team won the game with Angola

“It was a good match. In every competition four good teams are supposed to be at the Semi final stage and Super Eagles are one of them especially with their good performance against Angola.

He caution that Eagles should be careful with unnecessary missed chanrom glaring chances as witnessed in their previous matches.
