Akwa-Ibom School Projects Support Insecurity Reduction Efforts –  Lagbaja (Photos)

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, has stated that the educational projects undertaken by the Army will support the military in the fight against insecurity.

Lagbaja made this statement while commissioning a set of renovated and furnished classroom blocks, a borehole, and toilet facilities at Mbiabong Etim Primary School in Ini local government area, Akwa Ibom State.

The commissioned projects were part of the COAS Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation projects (CSICP), aimed at supporting the community of Nigeria Army officers at the rank of Major General.

“The projects commissioned in the community of Major General Udoh Bassey will enhance the educational well-being of the people,” the COAS noted.

He also emphasized that the nation’s security challenges require a comprehensive approach and civilian support, and the CSICP initiative is meant to foster these.

Furthermore, the Army Chief urged the beneficiary community to provide timely information to the army and other security agencies to curb insecurity, thereby allowing socio-economic activities to thrive.

In his welcome address, the Projects Initiator, Major General Bassey, on behalf of the Mbiabong Etim community, thanked the COAS for his support and intervention in executing the projects. He stressed that the facility would boost the learning environment of the pupils in the community.

In his goodwill message, the Executive Chairman of Ini LGA, Hon. Isreal Idaisin, expressed gratitude to the COAS for his support and gesture in gracing the commissioning of the projects. He also thanked the Project Initiator for their love for the community.

Also speaking at the event, the Archbishop of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Port Harcourt Diocese, Archbishop Emmanuel Udofia, commended the army under the command of the COAS and expressed happiness with the executed projects in the community. He assured that the projects would be put to good use and offered prayers for the NA, the project initiator, and the people of Mbiabong Etim community.

During his visit to Akwa Ibom, the COAS also commissioned the newly constructed Military Cantonment Mbiokporo, where he charged the troops to remain disciplined and committed to their duties, assuring them of his continued support.

The event was graced by the Akwa Ibom State Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Governor, Prince Enobong Uwah, as well as serving and retired senior officers, members of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association, clergymen, traditional rulers, and a host of community leaders, among others.
