Welcoming the delegation, Commandant of AWCN, Major General Umar Muhammed Alkali, hailed the visit as a landmark moment in Africa’s push for collective strategic preparedness. He underscored the importance of such engagements in tackling shared security challenges, especially those transcending national borders.

“We are honoured to host our Algerian counterparts,” General Alkali said.

“This visit reflects a rising commitment among African military institutions to deepen collaboration, share expertise, and promote regional stability through academic and operational synergy.”

General Alkali reiterated AWCN’s dedication to shaping operational-level leaders equipped with strategic thinking, leadership skills, and sound military education.

He also proposed enhanced cooperation in areas like curriculum development, counter-terrorism strategies, wargaming simulations, and joint exercises.

On his part, Major General Amirouche expressed deep appreciation for the warm reception, noting that the visit had enriched the AWC delegation’s knowledge of Nigeria’s defence framework.

He lauded AWCN for its modern infrastructure, robust curriculum, and cutting-edge operational research.

“This visit has provided us with valuable insights into Nigeria’s approach to professional military education.

“We are impressed with the depth of expertise and facilities here,” Amirouche stated.

The delegation received an in-depth briefing from Colonel OG Olayinka on the College’s structure, programmes, and strategic objectives.

They were also taken on a tour of the institution’s key facilities, including lecture halls, syndicate rooms, and the library.

The visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs between both institutions and a commemorative group photograph, symbolizing a renewed commitment to cross-border military academic cooperation.

This engagement marks another milestone in Africa’s journey towards unified defence strategies and knowledge-sharing among its military elite.
