Almakura Wins Media Award for Transforming Nasarawa Hajj Operations
The Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Idris Ahmad Almakura, has been recognised with an Award of Excellence for his role in improving pilgrims’ welfare and strengthening Hajj administration in the state.**
The award was presented to Mr Almakura by a delegation of Nasarawa-based media influencers led by their chairman, Aliyu Ibrahim Orah.
Mr Orah said the recognition followed the group’s assessment of the activities of the pilgrims’ board, including its operations during the Hajj exercise in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.
He said the group had observed the board’s efforts to address the needs of pilgrims and improve the services available to them throughout the pilgrimage.
According to him, Mr Almakura’s leadership and commitment to pilgrims’ welfare were among the reasons the group decided to honour him.
“This recognition is our way of appreciating the efforts being made to improve the experience of Nasarawa pilgrims and the administration of Hajj affairs,” Mr Orah said.
Mr Almakura, while receiving the award, thanked the media influencers for the honour and described it as a motivation to further improve his performance.
He said the recognition would not make the board complacent, but would instead encourage it to work harder to deliver better services to pilgrims.
“We appreciate this recognition, but we also see it as a responsibility to do more. The welfare of our pilgrims remains our priority,” he said.
The executive secretary dedicated the award to Governor Abdullahi Sule and the people of Nasarawa State, acknowledging the support of the state government and other stakeholders in the board’s activities.
He assured that the board would continue to pursue reforms and measures capable of improving Hajj operations and ensuring that pilgrims receive the necessary support before, during and after the pilgrimage.
The recognition comes amid increasing attention from stakeholders to the quality of Hajj administration and the treatment of Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
