In a rare interview with GQ marking his 30 years in the music industry, the 24-time Grammy-winning rapper reflected on the legal battle in which he was accused of assaulting a minor in 2000 alongside fellow music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. Both men denied the allegations.

The civil lawsuit, filed by a woman identified as Jane Doe, was later dismissed in February 2025. Following the dismissal, Jay-Z initiated legal action against the accusers, alleging malicious prosecution, defamation, and abuse of process.

Speaking on the impact of the case, the rapper described it as one of the most difficult periods of his life. “It was hard. Really hard. I was heartbroken,” he said, adding that the situation triggered a level of anger he had not experienced in years. He maintained that the allegations were false and expressed confidence that the truth ultimately prevailed.

Jay-Z also criticised what he described as a culture where consequences are often overlooked, noting that the speed of modern information sharing can amplify unverified claims without proper reflection.

Despite the legal challenges, the artist shifted focus to his personal life, highlighting the joy he finds in fatherhood with his wife, global superstar , and their three children. He described family life as giving deeper meaning to his career and daily experiences.

The interview coincides with announcements celebrating his legacy in music, including special projects and upcoming performances at Yankee Stadium, underscoring his continued influence in the global entertainment industry.
