Outrage as Police Respond to Dispute Over 3-Year-Old Boy at Florida Soccer Game

A viral video showing police officers responding to a youth soccer game near Orlando, Florida, has sparked outrage online, following claims that a three-year-old Black boy was forced to leave a soccer league because he was too good at the game.

However, the league’s director has disputed the claims, saying the police were called because the child’s parents were allegedly being disruptive, rather than because of the boy’s football skills.

The incident has triggered debate on social media, with some users accusing the league of unfair treatment and questioning why police were involved in a dispute at a children’s soccer game.

The incident occurred on October 24 during an i9 Sports youth soccer league match at Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Winter Park, near Orlando. The boy, identified as Nevada Pierre, was playing against children older than him when the disagreement arose.

According to police, a league official requested assistance over a dispute involving the boy’s parents. The official alleged that the child had been pushing other players and that his parents became upset over decisions about playing time and his conduct on the pitch. The boy’s mother, Martasia Griffin, maintained that her son was being excluded because of his football skills.

Police said the family cooperated with officers and left the park without incident. No one was arrested or issued a trespass notice, and the matter was treated as a civil dispute rather than a criminal case. The league had also offered to refund the family’s membership fees.

The i9 Sports organisation said it had contacted the family and begun reviewing the incident, adding that it would not speculate while gathering information from those involved.

The video has drawn widespread reactions online, with many people expressing concern over the involvement of police in a dispute involving a three-year-old child. However, the competing accounts from the family and league officials remain central to the controversy.
