Anfield: Ashley Cole praises Chelsea players as Touchel continues unbeaten

Ashley Cole has praised his former team’s player for what he called their perfect performance in the win against Liverpool on Thursday night.

The former Blues defender stated that he believed it was one of the best performances “I have seen from Chelsea”.

Mason Mount had a superb strike that inflicted a fifth consecutive home loss on Jurgen Klopp’s struggling side just before half-time.

According to Cole, Thomas Tuchel’s team looked assured at the back and were rarely threatened. The former Chelsea left back Cole said that the victory at Anfield will further place the squad high on confidence.

“I think it was a perfect performance. I thought they showed a lot of bravery and again to go to Anfield. For me one of the best performances I’ve seen Chelsea play in terms of playing out from the back, brave, calm on the ball,” Cole told Sky Sports.

Tuchel who took over from Frank Lampard six weeks ago has not lost a single game yet, going 10 games unbeaten in all competitions.

Tuchel’s Chelsea form includes the wins against Tottenham, Atletico Madrid and now Liverpool, all coming by a 1-0 scoreline.

On his part, Tuchel also lauded the courage by his team after the win over Liverpool at Anfield.

Mason Mount became the Blues hero after firing home a marvellous individual strike and the only goal of the game that extended the club’s unbeaten run under boss Tuchel.

The Thursday’s night result took Chelsea up into fourth in the Premier League, while Jurgen Klopp’s men remain in seventh after another awkward home defeat.

While the German Tuchel acknowledged that there is still little cause for celebration, he turned up the heat by stating the race to qualify for next season’s Champions League is on.

He said: “We played with courage, had excellent moments with the ball, had moments we needed to suffer, never lost the attitude and desire and a deserved win and big performance”.

“It was a very good team performance. Everyone was very brave and everyone was sharp. It is a six-point game because the others lose. The race is on, there are still 11 games to go,” the blues manager stated.
