APC Adopts Ahmad Lawan as Consensus Candidate for Yobe North Senatorial District

Former President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has emerged as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Yobe North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Following the declaration of his candidacy on Monday, Senator Lawan expressed appreciation to the APC national and state leadership, Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, and the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, for their support.

According to the former Senate President, stakeholders across the district unanimously affirmed his candidacy after he was cleared by the party’s national leadership.

Lawan stated that Nigeria was currently witnessing major reforms under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the ongoing economic and infrastructure policies as bold steps toward national transformation.

“Through the Renewed Hope Agenda, we are seeing consequential investments in student loans, consumer credit, and agricultural revitalisation that directly address the needs of our people,” he said.

The senator noted that it was important for him to return to the National Assembly to continue supporting the administration’s development agenda and ensure that Yobe North, Yobe State, and the North-East region benefit from ongoing reforms.

“It is therefore imperative that I return to the Senate as an active partner in progress, working closely with President Tinubu’s administration to ensure Yobe North, Yobe State, and the North East are fully carried along in this national rebirth,” Lawan stated.

Outlining his vision for the district, the lawmaker pledged to promote digital inclusion, youth empowerment, and agricultural development across Yobe North.

He said his focus would include equipping young people with market-ready skills and supporting farmers to transition from subsistence farming to commercial agribusiness.

Senator Lawan also called for peaceful and issue-based political engagements ahead of the elections and assured constituents of continued democratic dividends under the APC.
