APC National Chairman Calls for Unified National Effort to Tackle Terrorism, Insecurity

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has called for a stronger and more coordinated national response to terrorism and insecurity, stressing that securing Nigeria requires the collective efforts of government and citizens.

Yilwatda made the call in Abuja while participating in the National Citizens’ Stakeholders’ Engagement on Countering Terrorism and Insecurity, convened by HRH Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, CON, the 16th Emir of Kano, under the auspices of Project 774 Network.

The APC National Chairman described the engagement as timely and necessary, noting that Nigeria must remain united in confronting the forces of insecurity threatening the country.

He stressed that security is not the sole responsibility of government and the Armed Forces, but requires a coordinated effort involving government institutions, security agencies, communities, traditional and religious institutions, the private sector and individual citizens.

According to him, adopting a Whole-of-Government and Whole-of-Society approach would help strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture, deepen national cohesion, promote responsible citizenship and create the conditions necessary for sustainable development.

Yilwatda commended the convener and participants for providing a platform for constructive dialogue and collective action, stressing that the task before the country goes beyond defeating insecurity.

He said Nigeria must work towards building a nation where peace, unity, justice and prosperity are shared aspirations for all citizens.

The APC National Chairman reaffirmed his commitment to supporting credible initiatives that advance the security, stability, unity and progress of Nigeria.
